And now the Twins have found themselves in the disaster scenario they faced yesterday. They were unable to do anything against Andy Pettitte in the bottom of the seventh, and after Matt Guerrier turned in a perfect upper half of the eighth, the Twins against went 1-2-3. Only this time they did it against Kerry Wood, who took over for Pettitte after seven. Pettitte's day:
7 innings
5 hits
2 runs
1 walk
4 strikeouts
88 pitches
Wood struck out J.J. Hardy, got Denard Span to ground back to the mound, and then struck out Orlando Hudson. The Yankees will now be able to hand a lead of at least two runs over to Mariano Rivera, and if the Twins want to avoid falling behind 2-0 in the series, they'll have to achieve the near-impossible.
