Dan Uggla Traded To Braves For Omar Infante, Michael Dunn

Earlier Tuesday, we noted that the Dan Uggla trade rumors were heating up, as the Marlins were aggressively shopping their veteran second baseman. And it didn't take long for a deal to materialize, as the Marlins have now dealt Uggla to the Braves in exchange for Omar Infante and Michael Dunn.

Uggla brings a much-needed power bat to a Braves lineup that has leaned too heavily on Jason Heyward and Brian McCann. It's unknown where he's going to play, but with Martin Prado around and Chipper Jones looking to return, the most likely scenario puts Uggla at second base, Jones at third, and Prado in left field.

Uggla is currently in his final year of team control, and will be a free agent after the season unless the Braves sign him to a contract.

For the Marlins, Infante brings a cheaper and more defensively-able skillset to the team, although he's also currently a year away from free agency. Dunn, meanwhile, is a 25-year-old lefty who threw 19 innings with the Braves last season, striking out 27 while walking 17. With a high-90s fastball and a dangerous slider, he could develop into an effective late-inning reliever.

It's a big-time trade, out of which the Braves seem to benefit the most. Check out Talking Chop and Fish Stripes for more.
