Slugging free agent Adam Dunn has been contact by AL and NL suitors alike, and earlier Wednesday, it was reported that he had held a meeting with representatives from the Oakland A's. However, according to Susan Slusser, no such meeting actually took place.
There had been discussions about having a meeting, but no meeting ever happened. The A's remain focused on free agent Lance Berkman instead, as Berkman would provide an approximation of Dunn's skillset at a much lower and Oakland-friendly price.
And so Dunn will keep floating around, waiting for teams to come calling. The Detroit Tigers still look like a good fit; while they're interested in Carl Crawford and Jayson Werth, it's unlikely that either will land in Michigan. That would leave Dunn as possibly the best remaining position player, and the best remaining bat.
