In search of a four-year contract, it seemed like free agent Adam Dunn was setting himself up for another long, drawn-out winter. But now there's word that he may be on the verge of signing in advance of the Winter Meetings.
According to Jon Heyman, the White Sox may be closing in on signing the 31-year-old power hitter. Susan Slusser agrees, noting that Dunn looks likely to sign with Chicago, and that the Oakland A's will want to turn their attention elsewhere.
Just earlier on Thursday, we heard that the White Sox were interested in Dunn. The degree of Kenny Williams' interest was even described as "serious". But now, in true Kenny Williams fashion, this all seems to be moving ahead at a furious pace. It's possible that this never materializes and that Dunn ends up somewhere else, but from the sounds of things, he could end up celebrating an early Christmas.
