Baseball Under Consideration For 2020 Olympics Inclusion

According to reports out of South Africa, baseball is on a list of sports being considered for insertion into the 2020 Summer Olympics. The list was announced Monday in preparation for the 123rd IOC Session in Durban.

Also included on the list is karate, softball, squash, roller sports, sports climbing, wakeboarding, and wushu. A single spot is available for this latest round of event addition.

The vote to decide the winning sport will be held at the IOC Session in Buenos Aires in 2013. Previously, baseball lost a similar vote for inclusion into the 2012 London Summer Olympics. Reportedly, the IOC Session will also decide which city will win the opportunity to host the 2020 Summer Games.

Also noteworthy to come out of the announcements, three new sports have been approved for inclusion into the next Winter Olympics. Men's and women's ski slopestyle, snowboard slopestyle, and snowboard parallel special slalom will be officially held at the 2014 Sochi, Russia games.
