The Boston Red Sox celebrated the 100 year anniversary of Fenway Park on Friday. It was a glorious tribute to one of the most iconic stadiums in professional sports history. The only thing that ruined the celebration -- as far as Red Sox fans are concerned, anyway -- is that they suffered a 6-2 defeat at the hands of the New York Yankees. The Yankees and the Red Sox -- I don't know whether you've heard this before -- share a bit of a rivalry. The Yankees victory at the centennial celebration was reported on by the New York Post, which of course delivers news in the classiest way possible.
Fire up the Pulitzer machine!
This sort of even-handed, modest reporting is the defining element of the New York Post and, of course, the complete lack of any sense of braggadocio is characteristic of every Yankees fan, ever. Just one of the many reasons why Yankees fans have earned the nickname "The Quiet Humbles."
