Atlanta Braves pitcher Jair Jurrjens will return to the rotation against the Boston Red Sox on Friday.

Atlanta Braves pitcher Jair Jurrjens made just four starts for Atlanta before finding himself optioned to Triple-A Gwinnett. Jurrjens was sent down after being roughed up by the Los Angeles Dodgers back in April, giving up nine hits and five runs in just three innings of work. With the Braves placing starting pitcher Brandon Beachy on the 15-day disabled list, Jurrjens will make his return to the Braves rotation on Friday against the Red Sox, according to the team.

Jurrjens struggled in his four starts at the beginning of the season with the Braves, picking up an 0-2 record and not lasting for more than five innings in any of his four starts. The call up for Jurrjens is likely out of necessity than anything else as Jurrjens hasn't exactly lit it up in Triple-A. During his time with Gwinnett, Jurrjens picked up a 3-4 record including giving up 11 earned runs and 12 hits in his last outing.
