Jiwan James is an outfielder in the Philadelphia Phillies organization. Recently, while playing in a game for the Reading Phils, James made an amazing catch. It's not a trick catch. That's a cheap and tawdry word. This catch would more accurately described as ... an illusion.
This amazing video comes to us via Jason Brewer at SB Nation Philadelphia. Behold a spectacular mind-bender of a catch below ... if you dare!
Still, where did the baseball come from?
At the risk of being drummed out of the Alliance of Magicians, I'll go ahead and explain to you exactly what happened here. Please click here if you don't want this illusion ruined.
James leaped up for the ball and totally whiffed with his glove. As he was jumping, the ball managed to drop in between him and the wall and either 1) dropped right into his bare hand, 2) bounced off the wall into his hand, or 3) was trapped between his body and the wall, allowing him to grab it.
Either way ... ta-da!
