Justin Verlander will take the mound for the Detroit Tigers on Tuesday in Game 3 of the American League Championship Series on the heels of a heartbreaking loss at the hands of the Boston Red Sox. Coverage begins at 3:30 p.m. ET on FOX.
David Ortiz's eighth-inning grand slam on Sunday turned around a series that looked like it would shift to Detroit with the Tigers in complete control. Instead, Verlander will have to get the best of Red Sox hurler John Lackey and the high-powered Boston offense to allow Detroit to regain the series lead.
Lackey won his lone start of the postseason, striking out six batters while allowing four runs in 5⅓ innings in Boston's win over the Tampa Bay Rays in Game 2 of the ALDS.
Verlander has looked like his vintage self in two playoff starts, racking up 21 strikeouts in 15 shutout innings.
First pitch from Comerica Park in Detroit is slated for shortly after 4 p.m. ET. Joe Buck and Tim McCarver will handle broadcasting duties.
