Yankees, Rangers and Red Sox expected to pursue Brian McCann

Brett Davis-USA TODAY Sports

McCann is expected to draw the interest of many big-market teams this winter.

Free agent catcher Brian McCann will draw interest from many of the big-market teams this offseason, reports Jon Heyman of CBS Sports.

The Yankees, Rangers, Red Sox, Cubs and Angels will all be searching for a catcher this off-season and are expected to have an interest in McCann. Heyman also lists the White Sox, Blue Jays, Giants and Rockies as other teams potentially interested in his services, but may not have as much money to spend or room to play the catcher.

One MLB general manager stated that McCann could sign for $100 million this off-season, speculation that Heyman calls "ambitious." Still, the fact that so many teams with money to spend have an interest in the catcher could help drive his price up.

McCann is a career .270/.350/.473 hitter who has hit at least 20 home runs in seven of the past eight seasons. His numbers were down a little in 2013, but he still hit .256/.336/.461 and made his seventh All-Star appearance.
