Carlos Beltran catch robs David Ortiz of another grand slam

Bob DeChiara-USA TODAY Sports

David Ortiz thought he had another grand slam. Carlos Beltran thought otherwise.

David Ortiz nearly had another iconic postseason home run, but St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Carlos Beltran took it away.

Ortiz lifted a 1-2 offering from Cardinals starter Adam Wainwright into deep right. The ball clearly went over the wall, but Beltran's tremendous effort resulted in a sacrifice fly, and not a grand slam, for Ortiz.

Beltran's catch is the lone bright spot in what has been a poor defensive showing by the Cardinals thus far.

Update: After the inning Beltran was removed from the game with a right rib contusion.
