Carlos Beltran open to free agent offers from all teams

Beltran has been an All-Star each of the last two years and would help a team needing offense.

St. Louis Cardinals outfielder and soon-to-be free agent Carlos Beltran says that he will listen to contract offers from any team, reports the New York Post.

Beltran was asked specifically about a possible reunion with the New York Mets in the offseason. He played with the team from 2005-11 and left on poor terms with COO Jeff Wilpon and Mets' management.

"I’m going to listen to everybody and we’ll see what happens," Beltran told reporters.

The Cardinals signed Beltran to a two year contract worth $26 million prior to the 2012 season, making him a free agent this offseason. The Cardinals are currently embroiled in an NL Division Series against the Pittsburgh Pirates, with both teams holding a win apiece.

Beltran was named an All-Star each of his two years with St. Louis and hit .296 with an .830 OPS and 24 home runs in 2013. Over a 16 year career, the 36-year-old has hit for an .854 OPS and 358 home runs. He also has over 300 career stolen bases, but has certainly lost a step over the years.

The Cardinals could be willing to let Beltran go in free agency without much of a fight. Top prospect Oscar Taveras is nearly MLB-ready and the team has a good amount of depth. If team management wants to give Taveras more time in the minors, Allen Craig could play right field with Matt Adams taking over full-time at first.
