Jeremy Hellickson will hope to force a Game 5 against Jake Peavy.

After losing 93 games in 2012, the Boston Red Sox are one game away in 2013 from playing for the American League pennant. They lead the Tampa Bay Rays 2-1 after the Rays took Game 3 on Monday night. Game 4 will take place Tuesday night.

Jake Peavy will take the mound for Boston as the 12 year veteran pitches in the playoffs for the first time in seven years.

Peavy had a 4.04 ERA in 10 starts after the Red Sox acquired him in a mid-season trade with the Chicago White Sox.

He finished off the season poorly, earning a 5.40 ERA in four September starts as he began to suffer control issues. He has had nearly two weeks of rest since his last outing.

For the Rays, Jeremy Hellickson will hope that his second playoff start goes better than the first. He was pulled after just four innings of work against the Rangers in the 2012 ALDS after allowing three solo home runs.

After three strong Major League seasons, Hellickson had a nightmare of a year in 2013 with a 5.17 ERA over 31 starts and a relief appearance. He had a rough start to the beginning of the year, then pitched well in June and July before tailing off again in August and September. Over the last two months, Hellickson has a 7.02 ERA and has allowed opposing lineups to hit for an 890 OPS against him.

First pitch is scheduled for 8:37 pm EST, with the action being broadcast live on TBS.
