Royals, Indians interested in Tim Hudson

The veteran starter is drawing interest from a pair of AL Central teams.

Free agent starting pitcher Tim Hudson is drawing interest from the Cleveland Indians and Kansas City Royals, reports Mark Bowman of

The Atlanta Braves are interested in re-signing the starter and have offered a one-year deal, according to Bowman. Hudson and his agent, however, have not yet made a counter offer.

Around 10 teams have reached out to the veteran, writes Bowman. Cleveland and Kansas City have shown the most interest; Indians manager Terry Francona had a "lengthy" telephone discussion with Hudson earlier in the week, while Royals manager Ned Yost plans to call Hudson later in the week.

Hudson made 21 starts for Atlanta in 2013, going 8-7 with a 3.97 ERA. He missed the final two months of the season after suffering a broken ankle in July.

The Royals and Indians are both expected to starting pitchers to free agency this offseason. Ubaldo Jimenez and Ervin Santana are both expected to hit the free agent market after declining qualifying offers from their respective teams, and could land expensive, long-terms contracts over the winter.
