Billy Butler sheepish after error

Billy Butler knows he messed up

The Royals Alcides Escobar, as he does, made a lovely little play on a ground ball to shortstop in Wednesday's afternoon contest against the Braves. He caught it on a hop barehanded, then immediately turned to throw, but that was the last positive moment of the play, as the next step was to hurl it towards designated hitter with a glove, Billy Butler:

Butler-pick

Butler misses it as if something obscured his view, but as you can see, there was nothing in the way of that oncoming baseball. Some players like to just move forward from the next play without acknowledging they know they messed up, but, kind of adorably, Butler's body language lets on that he knows he should have had it:

Butler-aw-shucks

"Man, I should have had that, I just... man I'm just going to walk this back and not even throw it and probably make things worse I better be DH tomorrow."
