MLB Weekend Betting Preview: Jays vs Yankees Predictions

Peter G. Aiken-USA TODAY Sports

Toronto has slumped and the Yankees are not their usual dominant selves. Still, MLB betting focuses in on this AL East series this weekend.

Toronto opened the season as World Series favorites, but stumbled out of the gate and now face a tough weekend series against the New York Yankees.

Meanwhile, some of baseball's lesser lites are winning and generating nice profits for bettors, who are continuing to learn by trial and error how to bet on baseball.

It's just one of the weekend's intriguing matchups which have garnered the attention of baseball fans and bettors.

In the AL East the 8-6 New York Yankees hit the road for a three-game series in Toronto with the pre-season favorites to win that division, the 6-8 Blue Jays. After all the preseason sportsbook hype around Toronto, bettors have been losing money on the Jays so far.

In Tampa the Rays, off to a struggling 5-10 start, host the 12-4 Oakland A's for three games.

In Boston the 11-4 Red Sox, shaking off the terrible events of the week in that great city, host the 8-6 Kansas City Royals for three games at Fenway.

In Queens the 7-7 Mets welcome in the 9-6 Washington Nationals for a three-game NL East rivalry series.

The 7-8 Los Angeles Dodgers, who just got swept three games at home by the San Diego Padres, head cross-country for a three-game inter-league series with the 8-7 Baltimore Orioles.

Out in Denver the 11-4 Rockies host the 9-6 Arizona Diamondbacks for a three-game NL West series.

And in Anaheim the 4-10 Angels have the tough task of trying to right their ship against the defending American League champion Detroit Tigers.

As of Friday morning the Jays were favored by -130 to win their series with the Yanks (+110); the Rays were chalked at -130 to win their series with the A's (+110); the Red Sox were favored by -170 to win their series with the Royals (+150); the Mets were getting +135 to win their series with the Nats (-155);

the Dodgers were getting +110 to win their series vs. the Orioles (-130); the Rockies were favored by -150 to win their series with the D'Backs (+130); and the Angels were favored by -130 in their series with the Tigers (+110).

Also this weekend the Atlanta Braves, the hottest team in baseball so far this season at 13-2, continue a four-game series with the 7-8 Pirates in Pittsburgh; and the 9-6 Cardinals and 6-10 Phillies continue a four-game set in Philly.
