Ryan, 41, is currently the president and CEO of Ryan-Sanders Baseball, Inc. The company owns the Round Rock Express, the Triple-A affiliate of the Rangers, and the Corpus Christi Hooks, the Astros' Double-A Affiliate. Per his official biography on the Round Rock Express website, the younger Ryan is considered the founder of both clubs, and oversaw the development of the two stadiums both clubs currently use.
It is unclear how Ryan's current role with the minor-league franchises would change if he joins the Astros front office. Astros owner Jim Crane has discussed purchasing some of the team's minor-league franchises to enhance its brand, but Ryan denied that Crane had offered to purchase the Hooks from Ryan-Sanders Baseball.
The Astros' president postion opened up on Monday with the resignation of former President and CEO George Postolus. Postolus aided Crane in his search to purchase a professional sports team for several years before serving as the team's president and CEO. Postolus will return to his previous job of consulting investors on strategy and acquisitions in major-league sports.
