Yahoo! Sports lists Nick Franklin as "Edmundo" Franklin

Denis Poroy

Mistakes happen, but that doesn't make them less funny.

Nick Franklin is new to the majors, as he was called up to the Mariners this week. He's, in fact, very, very, new, as Yahoo! Sports isn't quite sure what his name actually is yet:

You're probably wondering where Yahoo! got "Edmundo" from Nick. Franklin's middle name is Edward, so that's, like, almost there. Searching for Edmundo Franklin on Baseball Reference brings you a big old batch of no results. Googling "Edmundo Franklin" does bring you to Franklin Edmundo Rijkaard's Wikipedia page, though, so maybe someone at Yahoo! is just a huge Dutch football fan.

If you're a fantasy player, now would be the time to put in a bid for Franklin, in the hopes no one else in your league can figure out that using his real name won't get you there.
