MLB Trade Rumors: Miami Marlins 'aggressively' shopping Ricky Nolasco

The Marlins would like to move the starter before the trade deadline.

The Miami Marlins are "being very aggressive" about shopping starting pitcher Ricky Nolasco, Andy Martino of the New York Daily News is reporting.

A source told Martino that the Marlins "are desperate to move Nolasco," and that the team is "calling everybody about their pitchers." The Marlins would like some compensation in return for Nolasco, who will be a free agent this offseason and is unlikely to re-sign with Miami.

Nolasco knows that the Marlins have placed him on the trading block, as he told Joe Frisaro:

"I know what's going on, talking to my agent and stuff like that. I'm not in free agency yet, so I don't have a choice. I don't have a say in what goes on right now. I'm just going to block that out. I'm trying to stay level-headed, and I'm just trying to throw the ball well. Things are out of my control right now, so I'm trying not to think about them."

The Marlins should be able to find a trade partner before the deadline, as Nolasco is one of the more attractive options in a shallow pitcher's market. Nolasco owns a 3.68 ERA through 16 starts this season, his lowest ERA since 2008.

The San Francisco Giants have been linked as one possible destination for Nolasco. The Washington Nationals and Baltimore Orioles are also reportedly interested in adding a starting pitcher before the deadline.
