Giants general manager Brian Sabean's people have asked Wilson's representatives to include the team in the process, according to Schulman. Wilson may not want to return to the Giants; the closer was apparently upset that the the team did not tender him a contract after 2012.
Wilson underwent his second Tommy John surgery in April 2012, and the Giants would have had to offer the reliever at least $6.9 million to keep him. The Giants were unsure about his recovery, which made the team unwilling to offer Wilson a contract.
The right-hander chose to enter free agency and rebuild his arm strength rather than sign a minor-league contract and continue his rehab with one team. Wilson served as the San Francisco closer from 2008 through 2011, compiling 163 saves in those four seasons.
