Biogenesis scandal: 13 players expected to receive suspensions, per report

Alex Rodriguez, Nelson Cruz and Jhonny Peralta are all expected to receive suspensions Monday.

Alex Rodriguez, along with about a dozen other players, are expected to receive suspensions Monday from MLB for their involvement with the Biogenesis clinic, reports T.J. Quinn of ESPN.

Several of the names were given to MLB by Biogenesis clinic founder and key witness Tony Bosch over the last few weeks, according to Quinn. Rangers outfielder Nelson Cruz, Tigers shortstop Jhonny Peralta and Padres shortstop Everth Cabrera are expected to receive punishments, but not all of the players on the list have been publicly leaked.

Bartolo Colon, Yasmani Grandal and Melky Cabrera have been connected with the now-defunct Miami clinic, but are not expected to receive suspenions, since all three have served previous suspensions for failed tests.

Rodriguez is expected to receive the longest suspension, which will reportedly last for the rest of the 2013 season and all of the 2014 season. The other 12 players will likely receive 50 game bans. Players will be allowed to serve their punishment immediately, or file a grievance and keep playing while their appeal is being heard.
