MLB injury news: Michael Bourn X-rays negative, Mike Napoli expected back Friday

USA TODAY Sports

The Indians likely won't be without their starting center fielder for long.

Cleveland Indians outfielder Michael Bourn was out of the lineup on Wednesday, but X-rays on his right wrist were negative, leaving Bourn able to pinch-run if needed, manager Terry Francona told Ohio.com's Stephanie Storm.

Bourn suffered the injury after sliding into second base during the fifth inning of the Indians' win over the Chicago White Sox on Tuesday. The speedy outfielder exited the game after the injury, but felt better on Wednesday and says he could have started.

"I think it's okay. I just jammed it into the ground. I went pretty hard and it was sore, so I had to come out the game ... I want to play, but we're being precautionary."

Bourn is hitting .260/.314/.355 in his first season with the Tribe.
