Peralta, who was suspended for 50 games for his involvement in the Biogenesis scandal, went 1-for-4 with a run-scoring double in the Tigers' 3-2 loss to the Miami Marlins. The 31-year-old veteran made his first career appearance in the outfield and caught the only fly ball hit in his vicinity. He also cleanly fielded a third-inning double, though he took a longer-than-necessary route to the ball.
Still, it appears Peralta handled himself well overall, both in the field and at the plate. That's something he was hoping to do prior to the game, Peralta told MLB.com's Jason Beck:
"It's maybe going to be a test, to see how I look in the outfield ... and to see how I look in the swing, too, in my at-bats."
In addition to his double, a couple of balls that resulted in outs were hit on the screws by Peralta.
