Red Sox beards update: Jonny Gomes is moving on

Jamie Squire

Mike Napoli disapproves.

At a team event in Boston this week, outfielder Jonny Gomes was still sporting the mussy playoff beard that became a centerpiece of the Red Sox celebrations on their way to winning the World Series last October.

When asked about the future of his face and the hair that histrionically bursts forth from it, Gomes said, "The beard's coming off. Oh yeah."

Don't worry Sox fans, Napoli will never deny you your desire for a bearded hero.
