Giancarlo Stanton hits 2 HR for Marlins, Padres bring back brown & mustard uniforms

Mike Ehrmann

The Marlins and Brewers combine for seven home runs between four hitters with Giancarlo Stanton hitting a pair. And the Padres bring back an old classic.

The Marlins and visiting Milwaukee Brewers put on a fireworks display at Marlins Park Friday evening; four players hit home runs and three of them knocked a pair out of the park each.

Leading the charge -- albeit for the losing team -- was Miami wunderkind Giancarlo Stanton, who is currently first in the National League with 14 homers. He was joined by teammate Garrett Jones as they tried to defeat the Brewers almost entirely by themselves in what would eventually be a 9-5 loss. Mark Reynolds of the Brewers matched Stanton and Jones with two home runs of his own, and his teammate, Khris Davis, added another against Marlins relief pitcher Brad Hand.

It's hard to tell which was more shocking: that many home runs being hit at Marlins Park or the home team losing the game. The Marlins are a major-league best 19-7 at home this season, but play in the ballpark with the sixth lowest rate of home runs in the league. Between the Marlins and their opponents, they have only generated 80.2 percent as many as the average park.

Here's hoping Stanton doesn't find out about that.
