Just when it looked like another tough loss for the Nationals, Bryce Harper hit a two-out, two-run walk-off home run to lift the Nats to a 9-7 win over the Pirates a half-inning after they'd blow a 7-3 lead in the top of the ninth inning in D.C.

With some help from the Pirates, who committed three errors in a four-run first, the Nationals got out to an early 4-0 lead and added runs late to go up 7-3, but the Bucs rallied to tie it with a four-run ninth before Bryce Harper's walk-off winner.

Detwiler Out At Least A Month W/ Disc Issue

Nationals' manager Davey Johnson told reporters last night that Ross Detwiler will be out at least another month with what was diagnosed as a disc issue in his back that will require rest on the part of the Nats' 27-year-old left-hander.

Stras: "Six innings isn't cool anymore for me."

"Six innings isn't cool anymore for me," Stephen Strasburg told reporters after tonight's start, "I want to go seven, eight and hopefully nine some time." Strasburg went eight innings Wednesday night, but the Nationals lost to the Pirates.

Stras loves striking out Bucs like the lineup loves not scoring, the bullpen loves giving up runs, and Laz Diaz loves making calls on plays he didn't see.

Nationals Drop Sixth Straight, 4-2 To Pirates...

Washington Nationals' right-hander Stephen Strasburg struck out 12 in 8.0 IP and gave up just one run on a home run by Pedro Alvarez, but it was enough for the Pittsburg Pirates and left-hander Francisco Liriano, who claimed a 4-2 win in Nats Park.
