Well, it didn't happen tonight. But the good news is the Rangers' loss officially eliminated the Angels from postseason consideration. The Rangers go tomorrow with Matt Harrison on the mound with another chance to clinch the AL West.
The Rangers have clinched a spot in baseball's postseason but the work isn't finished quite yet. The magic number sits at two but the Rangers only need one win in the season's final series against Oakland to win their third consecutive AL West title.
The Rangers end their 2012 regular season campaign in Oakland and somehow it still matters. The A's need a sweep. The Rangers need one win. Both teams know they're heading for postseason baseball, but this one's for the West and avoiding the play-in.
