Dee Gordon continued his post-Maury Wills success in the Dodgers series opener against the Giants on Monday night at AT&T Park. Gordon, who met with Wills for private instruction before Saturday's game, had two hits, a walk, and a stolen base, becoming the first Dodger with three straight games with two hits and a stolen base since Matt Kemp on April 8-10, 2011.
The Dodgers in their last four years on the road against the Giants have had mixed success. From 2008-2011, the Giants won 19 of the 36 games played against the Dodgers at AT&T Park, but neither team took more than five of the nine games in San Francisco in any one year
The Dodgers hit all of .180/.228/.238 last week, but their 13 runs scored in the first six games of this nine-game road trip would qualify as an abundance of runs for Nathan Eovaldi, who starts the series opener Monday night against the Giants. The Dodgers have scored five runs in Eovaldi's five starts, including just three games with Eovaldi in the game. The Dodgers have lost all five games.
