It Just Never Stops...Michael Brantley And Josh Tomlin To The 15-Day Disabled List

It just never seems to stop for the Indians, as injury after injury continue to derail the squad that so desperately needs some good health to have a chance in the final five weeks of the season.

Michael Brantley and Josh Tomlin have both been placed on the 15-day disabled list. Brantley has inflammation in his right wrist that has bothered him for much of August, while Tomlin has right elbow soreness

Jim Thome, newly-acquired from the Twins, will fill one of the roster spots vacated, and left-handed pitcher Nick Hagadone will take the other.

Hagadone has a cumulative record of 6-4 with a 2.65 ERA in 2011 for the Akron Aeros and the Columbus Clippers. The first time Hagadone gets into a game will be his major league debut.

Cleveland Indians at Detroit Tigers(7:05PM) - SportsTime Ohio

The Tigers are just 1.5 games ahead of the Indians in the American League Central heading into this crucial three-game series. Josh Tomlin(12-5, 3.97) faces Max Scherzer(12-7, 4.37) in the opener.

Detroit Lions at Cleveland Browns(7:30PM) - WKYC

The Cleveland Browns offensive line will get a true test on Friday night when Ndamukong Suh - already $20K lighter in the wallet for a hit during a preseason game last week - and his Detroit Lions teammates invade Cleveland Browns stadium. Browns' quarterback Colt McCoy will be looking to carry over his strong performance against the Green Bay Packers in which he went 9/10 for 135 yards and a touchdown. The Browns beat the Packers 27-17. The Lions beat up on the Cincinnati Bengals last week 34-3.

Atlanta Falcons at Jacksonville Jaguars(8:00PM) - FOX

The national TV game tonight features Matt Ryan and the Falcons taking on Blaine Gabbert, Maurice Jones-Drew and the Jags from hot and sticky Florida. Atlanta fell to Miami 28-23 in their opener while Jacksonville was crushed by the New England Patriots 47-12.

Cleveland Indians vs. Boston Red Sox - 7:10 p.m. (TV/Radio: NESN/WEEI): Dustin Pedroia and the Red Sox escaped with the series victory against the White Sox in the series finale on Sunday, and they will look to continue their success as they return home to take on the Indians on Monday night. The always reliable John Lackey (joking, of course) gets the start for Boston while Josh Tomlin gets the nod for the Indians. Lackey is 9-8 with a 6.20 ERA this season.
