John Ely had a fantastic season last year in Triple-A and was named the PCL "pitcher of the year" after leading the league in ERA, Wins, and Strikeouts.

The Houston Astros traded for the right-hander from the Los Angeles Dodgers in exchange for left-hander Rob Rasmussen.

Ely won the pitching triple crown in the Pacific Coast League in 2012. Rasmussen, a native of Arcadia who pitched for UCLA, pitched ended 2012 pitching in Double-A.

Ely led the PCL in ERA last season, starting 27 games for Albuquerque, while Rasmussen was acquired last year in the Carlos Lee deal.
