Assets
  • He pitches about equally well against lefties and righties and gets hitters to beat the ball into the ground often enough to keep his home-run totals respectable. Though his fastball isn't too hot, he makes up for it with a disappearing sinker and a nice changeup.
Flaws
  • Occasionally, Mendoza will have mechanical problems and he'll get pounded. Often the culprit is his arm angle. He gets hit often, putting a lot of pressure on his infield.
Career Potential
  • Once a quality reliever but has lost his best stuff.
