However, a promising young right-handed pitcher who started the season at the D-backs' complex in Arizona has since been promoted to Yakima, and had a fine night on the mound on Friday.

90 Sands Goes Deep, But Dodgers Buried By Disastrous Fourth Inning

The good news for the Dodgers today was that Jerry Sands hit his first major league home run, a solo shot to left field off Mark Buehrle in the sixth inning. The bad news was that Jon Garland gave them the worst start by a Dodger starter this season, and the White Sox cruised to a 9-2 win to even the weekend series. The fourth inning proved to be the undoing for the Dodgers.

Has a smooth, quick delivery to the plate with a solid fastball. Mostly dominates lefty bats out of the bullpen. Can also start.

Flaws

Doesn't have overpowering stuff and needs to keep working on his alternate pitches (a slider and changeup). Control is a work in progress, especially when pitching to righties.

Career Potential

Versatile situational lefty with a little upside.
