John Lackey will undergo Tommy John surgery this offseason and will miss the entire 2012 season, according to new Boston Red Sox GM Ben Cherington.
Just when you thought the worst was over, reports surfaced Tuesday that a trio of Red Sox pitchers drank beer in the dugout when they weren't pitching this season.
The Rays needed a sweep of the Red Sox if they were going to be dreaming of October glory, and so that's what they did behind big pitching from James Shields and a huge day for BJ Upton.
