The Seattle Mariners have placed starting pitchers Kevin Milwood and Jason Vargas on trade waivers. Both pitchers have fared well for the Mariners this year, but the younger Vargas is likely the more appealing of the two.

On Thursday, July 26th, the Seattle Mariners beat the Kansas City Royals 4-1. Jason Vargas tossed eight strong innings and the offense wasn't completely terrible.
The St. Louis Cardinals are still "monitoring" the starting pitching market despite frustration at high asking prices. They have made it known they not in the market for Greinke or Hamels, but second-tier options like Vargas are garnering interest.
