The Dodgers open up a series with the Diamondbacks tonight at Dodger Stadium, the final leg of their nine-game homestand, and the start of trade deadline weekend. Which may (or may not) explain why Eugenio Velez is playing second base tonight rather than Jamey Carroll.

Ryan Cook and Bryan Shaw will be called up to the Diamondbacks today, replacing Barry Enright and Yhency Brazoban. Cook has 13 saves and a 2.25 ERA in AA Mobile this season, and this is Shaw's second appearance with the Diamondbacks this season.

The Milwaukee Brewers played Home Run Derby off of Arizona starter Barry Enright. The Diamondbacks bullpen couldn't keep the team in range and they fell 11-3.

Reno had a big comeback, and we saw there the first of Sam Demel as he rehabs, but our affiliates lost four of the seven games played. However, they outscored the opposition 44-39, thanks to a big win in the DSL.

The Aces marked the loss of one of their offensive powerhouses by putting up a 12-spot on the 51's in Las Vegas, but another one of our affiliates were reduced to one-hit wonders. Three of the five Diamondbacks affiliates playing today came out on top.
