Baltimore, MD (Sports Network) - Julio Lugo's RBI single in the 11th inning helped the Boston Red Sox take a 6-5 win over the Baltimore Orioles in the finale of a three-game set at Camden Yards.
In Tuesday's game the Red Sox held a 10-1 lead in the seventh, but the Orioles scored five runs in both the seventh and eighth inning to grab an 11-10 win. Boston turned the tables on Baltimore Wednesday, scoring four times in the ninth to send the game into extra innings.
Kevin Youkilis hit a two-run home run, while Dustin Pedroia went 2-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored, as the Red Sox bounced back from Tuesday's debacle to take their fourth victory in the past six games.
Josh Beckett threw seven innings in the start and was charged with five runs on six hits with two walks and five strikeouts. Ramon Ramirez (5-2) pitched a perfect 10th inning to grab the win.
Luke Scott and Ty Wigginton each hit a solo home run, while Nick Markakis hit a two-run double for the Orioles, who have dropped three of four. Brad Bergesen went eight innings in a solid start, as he gave up just one run on four hits with six strikeouts. Danys Baez (4-2) was saddled with the loss.
After scoring one run in the third inning, Boston was able to garner just one hit through the next five innings, but erupted for four runs in the ninth to tie the game.
With Jim Johnson on the mound, Pedroia worked a leadoff walk, and Youkilis followed with a shot over the right field wall.
George Sherill then took the mound and got the next two batters out, but a single and two walks loaded the bases, and Rocco Baldelli's pinch-hit, two-run single tied the game.
In the 11th, Jacoby Ellsbury led off with a double, moved to third on Jeff Bailey's flyout and came home on a single from Lugo.
Jonathan Papelbon then worked a 1-2-3 frame in the bottom of the 11th to pick up his 20th save of the season and 133rd in a Boston uniform, which moved him past Bob Stanley for most in club history.
In the first inning, Brian Roberts led off with a walk, stole second and then scored on a single from Felix Pie to give Baltimore a 1-0 lead.
In the second, Scott led off the frame with a blast over the center field wall, his 15th of the season, for a 2-0 lead.
Boston, though, got a run back in the third as J.D. Drew hit a one-out single and came home on a double from Pedroia to make it a 2-1 game.
However, Baltimore got the run back and another in the bottom of the third on a two-run double off the bat of Markakis for a 4-1 lead.
