Mets activate Perez

Flushing, NY (Sports Network) - The New York Mets activated pitcher Oliver Perez from the 15-day disabled list and he started Wednesday's game against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Perez took the mound for the Mets for the first time since May 2. He had been out with right knee tendinitis.
Perez signed a new three-year deal this offseason, but got off to a horrid start to 2009. He went 1-2 in five starts with a 9.97 earned run average, allowing 24 runs, 28 hits and 21 walks in 21 2/3 innings. Control was Perez's biggest issue, as he walked five or more batters in three of his five starts.
