Flushing, NY (Sports Network) - The New York Mets announced Monday that bench coach Sandy Alomar, Sr. and first base coach Luis Alicea would not return for the 2010 season.
The team will offer Alomar and Alicea other positions within the organization.
New York also announced that hitting coach Howard Johnson, pitching coach Dan Warthen and bullpen coach Randy Niemann will return to manager Jerry Manuel's staff next season.
In addition, third base coach Razor Shines and catching instructor Sandy Alomar, Jr. will return in 2010 in yet to be decided roles.
The Mets finished up a disappointing 70-92 campaign in 2009 that saw the team struggle through a flurry of injuries. The team also opened its brand new state-of-the art stadium in Citi Field, where New York went 41-40 this season.
