New York, NY (Sports Network) - Philadelphia Phillies center fielder Shane Victorino and Detroit Tigers third baseman Brandon Inge were chosen by fan voting as the final two All-Stars, Major League Baseball announced Thursday.
It is the first All-Star selection for both players, who completed their respective leagues' 33-man roster for the 80th Mid-Summer Classic, which will be played July 14 at Busch Stadium in St. Louis.
Victorino, who narrowly beat San Francisco third baseman Pablo Sandoval for the last National League spot, is batting .308 through 80 games this year. He also has an on-base percentage of .372, has stolen 15 bases, hit six homers and driven in 40 runs.
Inge edged Rangers second baseman Ian Kinsler, among other contenders, to get the final American League roster spot. In 83 games this season, he is hitting .264 with a .360 on-base percentage, 19 homers and 54 runs batted in.
