Chicago, IL (Sports Network) - Ryan Doumit went 4-for-4, missed the cycle by a triple, scored three times and drove in four runs to help the Pittsburgh Pirates sweep the Chicago Cubs in a doubleheader at Wrigley Field with an 8-2 triumph in the nightcap.
Charlie Morton pitched a four-hitter for his first career shutout, and the Pirates also took the first game of the double-dip, 4-0.
"You want to try to finish strong, not only as a team but as an individual as well," said Doumit. "I can't remember a time we won at Wrigley Field let alone two games in one day."
Brandon Moss drove in a pair of runs for the Pirates, who have won five of seven overall. Delwyn Young and Lastings Milledge drove in a run each in the win. Jeff Karstens (4-5) got the win after going five innings and giving up two runs on five hits.
Mike Fontenot had an RBI for the Cubs, who have dropped three of four overall. Ryan Theriot also knocked in a run in defeat. Carlos Zambrano (9-7) took the loss after surrendering four runs on six hits in six innings.
"Everybody expects more out of him (Zambrano), including himself," said Cubs manager Lou Piniella. "So chalk this up as a season where he wasn't at his best."
The Pirates got on the board, 1-0, in the first inning. Andrew McCutchen led off with a triple and crossed home three batters later on Milledge's two-out single.
The Cubs tied it in the second on Fontenot's RBI single to right.
Doumit had a two-run double and Moss added an RBI single in the third, as Pittsburgh assumed a 4-1 lead. Chicago cut it to two runs on Theriot's sacrifice bunt in the home portion.
Doumit and Young had RBI singles bookend Moss' run-scoring fielder's choice in the seventh, which gave the visitors a 7-2 advantage.
Doumit's leadoff homer in the ninth accounted for the final margin.
