A crowd of 67,000 is expected to see American soccer's biggest club rivalry as the Timbers face off with the Sounders
Throw out the records, get on the boxing gloves, it's derby time in the Pacific Northwest as the Sounders host the Timbers with the Cascadia Cup on the line.
Interim manager Gavin Wilkinson kept his lineup under guard until the last second, but it looks mostly the same as what we've seen from them recently. Bright Dike has been outstanding since being given the chance to play regularly and will need to have a big game tonight.
No surprises from Sigi Schmid as the Sounders roll out a first choice lineup to face the Timbers. Eddie Johnson and Fredy Montero lead the attack, but the key is the heath of the honey badger Osvaldo Alonso and Mauro Rosales in the midfield. If the Timbers have any hope of winning tonight, they'll need to shut them down.
Seattle Sounders lineup (4-4-2): Michael Gspurning; Adam Johansson, Jeff Parke, Jhon Kennedy Hurtado, Leo Gonzalez; Mauro Rosales, Osvaldo Alonso, Christian Tiffert, Brad Evans; Eddie Johnson, Fredy Montero.
Portland Timbers lineup (4-3-3): Donovan Ricketts; Lovel Palmer, Futty Danso, David Horst, Rodney Wallace; Darlington Nagbe, Jack Jewsbury, Diego Chara; Sal Zizzo, Franck Songo'o, Bright Dike.
