Seattle Sounders vs. Portland Timbers: Halftime Score 2-0, easy for Seattle

It's been easy for the Seattle Sounders so far, who look like they're from an entirely different league than the Portland Timbers. The visitors haven't created anything that could be called more than a half chance, while the Sounders have played some excellent soccer and deserve their 2-0 lead.

Seattle struggled to find the final ball early on, while the Timbers put some pressure on their back line with long balls and set pieces, but the Sounders found their breakthrough in the 25th minute. Adam Johansson set up the goal with a cross from the right after being played down the flank by Osvaldo Alonso. He put in a cross intended for Fredy Montero, but 'Futty' Mamadou Danso deflected the ball past his own keeper for an own goal.

The Sounders added a second goal three minutes later through Eddie Johnson, who applied an excellent finish after a through ball from Brad Evans released him in the box. Danso and Geoff Hurst were nowhere to be found and left Johnson totally unmarked.

Unfortunately, it hasn't all been sunshine and rainbows for the Sounders. Jeff Parke picked up a nasty cut in a collision with Bright Dike at the end of the half and walked into the locker room. We'll find out how hurt Parke is when the Sounders come out for the second half, either with him or Zach Scott.
