Seattle Sounders vs. LA Galaxy: Eddie Johnson scores, brings Seattle within two on aggregate

Stay connected with SB Nation

The Seattle Sounders' comeback is underway. They entered tonight's Western Conference final second leg trailing the LA Galaxy 3-0 on aggregate, but have pulled one goal backs after just 10 minutes and only trail by two with 80 minutes to play at home.

Eddie Johnson got the goal for Seattle, racing in behind Omar Gonzalez and finishing calmly to pull the Sounders within one. Gonzalez had just headed a ball away and had relaxed, but it was right to Zach Scott, who played Johnson in quickly. From there, it was all Johnson and Seattle was within two on aggregate.

Seattle could have had another goal if it wasn't for some poor refereeing. Moments before scoring, Johnson scored a goal, only to have it ruled offside. The problem is that replays showed Johnson was clearly onside and the Sounders were robbed of a goal.

The Sounders are back in this. There's still more work to be done, but it is a start and a quick one, too.
