UFC 124 Results - Georges St. Pierre Dominates Josh Koscheck

Josh Koscheck can always claim that he was game for five rounds against the best welterweight the sport has ever seen, but he can't say he won the fight. Hell, he can't say he won a round. Georges St. Pierre displayed some of the best boxing ever displayed in mixed martial arts as he jabbed and hooked his way to a dominant victory.

Right from the early part of the first round it was St. Pierre establishing his jab. The hard left hands crashing into the face of Koscheck quickly started his right eye swelling. By the end of the opening frame Koscheck's eye was so badly swollen that he had to be having trouble seeing. After more punishment in the second, there was no doubt. GSP refused to stop jabbing and landing crushing right hands as the bout wore on and eventually the swollen eye became the swollen and bleeding eye.

Before the fourth round the doctor was taking a very close look at Koscheck to make sure he could see but did let the fight continue. St. Pierre was just too much though. He landed punches and kicks at will and did manage a few takedowns although Koscheck defended many attempts by GSP to put the fight on the ground.

In the end it all came down to GSP being on another level as a fighter. Not just another level from Koscheck, but another level as compared to every other fighter in the welterweight division.

UFC 124 Results - Stefan Struve Pounds Out Sean McCorkle

Stefan Struve is almost seven feet tall but the big knock on him has always been that he doesn't "fight tall." Against Sean McCorkle he would face a man who was going to look to take advantage of Struve's inability to use his reach and get him to the ground where he could get the submission. It did work out where Struve threw a long right hand that connected and then McCorkle took him down.

On the ground McCorkle ran into a problem though, he locked up a kimura but Struve stayed calm and defended. Once he didn't get the submission it was McCorkle gassing and throwing bad punches until Struve swept him from the bottom to end up on top in mount. From the mount Struve unloaded punches, drawing blood from the nose of McCorkle and forcing the ref to stop the fight.

With the win Struve improved to 5-2 in his UFC career.

UFC 124 Results - Jim Miller Submits Charles Oliveira In First Round

Jim Miller has long been one of the toughest men in the lightweight division and since coming to the UFC has t continued to have a good amount of success. In Charles Oliveira he was facing a man who had been hyped up by the fans as well as the UFC as possibly the future of 155 pound fighting. Instead it was the craft veteran who showed that he can stay calm and weather the storm of a young, explosive fighter.

Standing up in the start of the fight Oliveira was aggressive with head kicks but Miller avoided damage and got a takedown. Oliveira is known for a good submission game and he continually threw up his legs looking for an armbar or triangle but Miller suddenly spun from the top and locked up one of Oliveira's legs. Miller torqued the ankle at first and then transitioned to a kneebar that forced Oliveira to tap out.

With the win Miller has now won six straight fights in the Octagon.

UFC 124 Results - Mac Danzig Knocks Out Joe Stevenson

It was a meeting between former Ultimate Fighter winners when Mac Danzig and Joe Stevenson clashed on the main card of UFC 124. Stevenson was a heavy favorite both at the betting window and according to the media. But, in MMA the fights are contested in the cage, not in the court of public opinion and Mac Danzig proved why.

Stevenson attempted to be aggressive and outstrike Danzig, he came forward the whole fight and was leaping in with overhand punches. Danzig did the technically correct thing and circled and kept his distance. When Stevenson would jump in, Danzig would throw short counter punches. They didn't look to have too much power on them, instead looking like he may just look to outpoint "Joe Daddy."

But as Stevenson continued jumping in, Danzig threw a perfect left hook counter that landed to Stevenson's jaw and knocked him out cold. Two hammerfists followed from Danzig, but they weren't needed as Stevenson was clearly unconscious.

UFC 124 Results - Thiago Alves Outslugs John Howard

The UFC 124 PPV got off to a very fun start with the battle between hard hitting welterweights Thiago Alves and John Howard. Howard was game the entire three rounds, never stopping with the forward movement and aggression but his less technical strikes left him open to counters by the much more solid striker in Alves. It was an exciting three rounds but every minute was clearly won by Alves.

Alves worked a very simple game of hard leg kicks, counter punches and two punch combinations that kept Howard from getting comfortable. At multiple points in the fight Alves was able to stun Howard with hard punches but John showed great heart in getting up and going right back to his aggressive "come forward" style. Howard was also limping at several points in the bout as his leg was brutalized by hard kicks.

All three judges saw the bout a clean sweep, 30-27, for Alves and SB Nation saw the same.

With the fans voting for Fight of the Night tonight, it's got a very good chance of being this exciting slugfest.
