Josh Grispi came into UFC 125 as a rising star in the featherweight division. He was scheduled to face Jose Aldo for the 145 pound title before an injury forced Aldo to withdraw. Dustin Poirier was brought in to take on Grispi and most looked at him as nothing more than a "stay busy" fight to keep Grispi fresh.
Poirier had other plans though and he dominated the fight with crisp and varied striking. Dustin threw hard leg kicks and front kicks from the opening bell that caused Grispi to start to hesitate before engaging. From there Poirier opened up with his hands and stared to blast "The Fluke" with hard punches. The story was the same for all three rounds as Grispi could not get much going aside from a few "near" submissions.
All three judges as well as SB Nation saw the fight as 30-27 for Dustin Poirier who gets a tremendous upset victory.
