It wasn’t pretty but Waylon Lowe’s double leg take down was effective. The wrestler rode his advantage in take downs to a unanimous decision win over Williamy Freire.
Freire spent most of the fight on his back in guard. He didn’t take a lot of damage from Lowe, but Freire didn’t get off any notable offense from his back either. In the first round Referee Dan Miragliotta broke up the action while Freire was threatening with a kimura. In the third Friere got top position and landed some sharp elbows but Lowe regained top position.
The fight doesn’t have much of an impact on the UFC lightweight division but this win will keep Lowe in the organization.
