Strikeforce Challengers 14 Beerbohm Vs. Healy Results: Carlo Prater Front Chokes Bryan Travers

It took Carlo Prater exactly 38 seconds to choke out Bryan Travers in the first round of their 160 pound catchweight bout at Strikeforce Challengers 14: Beerbohm vs Healy.

Prater used a variation of the anaconda choke to finish Travers.

Strikeforce Challengers 14 Beerbohm Vs. Healy Results: Ryan Couture Finishes Lee Higgins

Ryan Couture, the son of UFC legend Randy Couture, utterly dominated Lee Higgins for most of three rounds before finally forcing him to submit to a rear naked choke at 4:41 in the third.

The first round saw little action as Couture felt things out on the feet. In the second, Couture took Higgins dropped Higgins early with a punch and spent most of the round dominating Higgins on the ground but was unable to finish.

Higgins had his best moment of the fight in the third round when he briefly took Couture’s back standing off of a mis-fired kick by Couture. But Higgins wasn’t able to do anything with it and Couture quickly took him down and finished it with the rear naked choke.

Strikeforce Challengers 14 Beerbohm Vs. Healy Results: Ryan Larson Triangles Erik Apple

Welterweight Ryan Larson utterly dominated Erik Apple for most of two rounds before finally submitting him with a triangle choke at 3:14 of round 2.

Larson got a quick take down on Erik Apple in the first round, moved to the mounted crucifix or Salaverry position but failed to do much damage from the top. Larson threatened with a kimura attempt briefly but Apple escaped and attacked Larson with a heel hook in the waning moments of the round.

It was more of the same in the second with Larson getting an early take down and moving through a series of dominant positions before choking out Apple. Larson trains under Greg Jackson in New Mexico.

Strikeforce Challengers 14 Results: David Douglas Quickly Chokes Out Nick Gonzalez

It didn’t take long for David Douglas to overpower Nick Gonzalez with punches on the feet. From there he followed him to the ground and finished him with a rear naked choke.

The fight was contested at a 150 pound catch weight. After the fight, Douglas said he would like to fight at 155 pounds in the future.

Undercard Results for Strikeforce Challengers 14 Beerbohm vs Healy

Aaron Lan Franco def. Ousmane Thomas Diagne via TKO 4:22 of Round 1.
Franco, the local boy out of Austin, Texas, made the most of an early take down to batter and finish the American Kickboxing Academy Product Diagne. Diagne landed a kick early but that was his only offense in the bout.

Drew Pendleton def. Dennis Dombro via submission (guillotine choke) 2:31 of Round 2.
Another win for a local fighter as the Austin Muay Thai product managed to survive an exhausting first round to pull off the guillotine choke in the second.
