Aside from a setback loss to Matt Hughes, Almeida has looked pretty good since making the drop to welterweight. He's going to be the stronger of the two and could have the edge grappling, but I actually like Mike Pyle here. Pyle absolutely handled the much-hyped John Hathaway back in October largely due to a flawless execution of his gameplan. If Randy Couture and he can craft another tailor-made for Almeida, he should take this fight.
Pyle has the edge as far as preparation and training camps. With guys like Gray Maynard, Martin Kampmann and the aforementioned Couture working with him on a daily basis, Pyle's preparation shouldn't be a concern. Add that to a new and improved diet courtesy of Mike Dolce and Pyle should have to gas for three rounds, something of a concern for Almeida.
