As if fighting for the UFC's light heavyweight title wasn't enough, Jon Jones apparently still had time to run down a burglar this afternoon. I guess it's safe to say he's in the right mindset. He might not be ready for someone like Shogun Rua just yet, but he sure looked the part after his dismantling of previously undefeated Ryan Bader just over a month ago. I don't believe Rua should be a 2.5-1 underdog in this fight, but it's hard not love Jones here.
The fight itself is a nightmare on paper for the champ. Rua, coming off a third knee surgery, has been abysmal at defending the takedown since joining the UFC. Seeing how even world-class wrestlers like Matt Hamill were thrown by the youngster at will, I'm fairly certain we see it happen again tonight. From there, Jones' ground and pound is devastating and the prospect of Shogun fighting off his back isn't exactly comforting. If Jones can close the distance, corner Rua and get him to the mat he takes this fight. I think the 'Age of Jones' begins tonight.
