The main event for UFC 128: Shogun vs. Jones is, of course, Mauricio 'Shogun' Rua vs. Jon Jones. This event serves as the most important test of Jones' young career and seeks to either validate or invalidate the hype around Jones. Rua, feeling overlooked, is looking to resassert his prominence over the division coming off of knee surgery.

ROUND 1 - Flying knee lands for Jones and Rua seems unfazed. Turning side kicks missed for Jones, but he wrestles Shogun to the floor with a collar tie. Shogun throws up a triangle attack on Jones, but it goes nowhere. Shogun staying active underneath moving and staying out of the way. Full guard for Shogun. Shogun looking hard to sweep but Jones basing out allowing nothing. Hard punches on top from Jones as Shogun struggles back to his feet. Hard right hand from Jones lands. Knee now from Jones in the center of the cage. Straight right lands for Jones. Left hook for Shogun misses and now Jones is on top again.
